Modo was founded in 2019 with a simple mission: To transform the energy industry through transparency of data.
Modo’s founders, Quentin and Tim, believed that to transition to a carbon neutral world, organisations operating in the energy sector needed to be empowered to make the right decisions quickly.
The Modo data platform is focused on delivering actionable insight through user-centric interfaces, simplicity, and focus.
In 2022, Modo is planning to increase the breadth of its offering and expanding the depth of analysis provided.

Modo is a learn-by-doing environment. We learn fastest by building experience and trying things out, regardless of whether they sink, swim or fly. We seek learning opportunities and thrive outside our comfort zone. Whether it's building new products, experimenting with new data or testing ideas with customers, we just get started and figure it out as we go along. By doing this, we will disrupt our own business models before our competitors do.
Our goal is to inspire people more than manage them. We trust our team to do what they think is best for Modo — giving them lots of freedom, power and information in support of their decisions. We believe people thrive on being trusted, on freedom, and being able to make a difference.
At its heart, Modo is a creative technology business, not a safety-critical business. Our big threat over time is lack of innovation and nothing kills innovation like process. At Modo, there are no spending controls and few signing controls. Our policy for travel, entertainment and gifts is simple: “act in Modo’s best interest”. Our holiday policy is ‘take holiday’. Our parental leave policy is ‘take care of your baby and yourself’. Important exceptions to our pro-freedom philosophy are ethical issues and safety issues (such as managing customer data), which have strict controls, but these are edge cases.
